Physicians Available to Provide Tips on Making Healthy Choices During the Holidays

(Chicago, IL) More and more, it seems that bigger is better during the holiday season. People want bigger turkeys to feed families and friends; bigger decorations to impress their neighbors; and bigger gifts to give to their loved ones. However, when it comes to holiday weight gain, bigger isn't better.

A 2005 report from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development found that the holiday season between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day is the only time that weight changes significantly.

Osteopathic physicians (D.O.s) can provide tips on how to make healthy choices during the holidays to prevent weight gain.

Paul R. Ehrmann, D.O.
Former chief medical consultant to the Public Health Committee of the Michigan House of Representatives
Owner and medical director of the Family Health Care Center in Royal Oak, Mich.

What the Oakland County Osteopathic Medical Association is saying about CHIP

First, let us congratulate you on the creation of the CHIP program. As physicians, we are well aware of the the obesity problems facing our school aged children. We agree that such a program geared toward this particular group creates a basis for learning the importance of good nutrition and healthy cardiovascular living early on and can only have a positive impact on their families at home.

We look forward to hearing about the positive outcome of this endeavor and appreciate being allowed the opportunity to participate as a sponsor.

Sincerely, Lawrence Abramson, D.O. OCOMA President
